This Syrah is based on Grapes grown in a stony and densely cultivated part of our Gimblett Gravels Vineyard known as Block 14. This block is the heart of this wine with its exuberant flavour and lushness. These vines have been cultivated from a heritage clone that was brought to New Zealand more than 150 years ago and produces grapes with wonderful floral, pepper and black fruit aromatics, lushness and density on the palate and fine natural acidity.
The wine is made as naturally as possible and aged in French Oak barriques for up to 16 months and will reward careful cellaring for up to seven years from vintage.
