Newton Forrest Estate reflects the Anzac spirit of Australian born and trained viticulturist Bob Newton, and New Zealand winemaker Dr John Forrest of Forrest Estate.
Cornerstone Vineyard is situated at the junction of Gimblett Road and State Highway 50, Hawke’s Bay, and lies in the abandoned course of the Ngaruroro River. Within the riverbed's stones and gravels the vines struggle to survive and produce only a few bunched of deeply-coloured, intensely-flavoured ripe fruit with superb mouth-filling tannins.
Our Cornerstone is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc grapes. The result is a rich concentrated red wine full of the flavours of blackberry, cassis and dark chocolate intermingled with the subtle tobacco and spice characters from extended maturation in French and American oak barriques.  The elegant tannin structure, a feature o the Gimblett Gravels region of Hawke’s Bay, will allow the wine to develop gracefully over many years. 14.0 Vol.
